Government to Cover Rs. 13.8 Billion Expenses of IT Ministry in FY25

The Ministry of Information Technology (IT) and its affiliated organizations are projected to incur expenses exceeding Rs. 13.82 billion during the fiscal year 2024-25. These expenses encompass both employee-related costs (ERA) and non-employee-related expenses (non-ERA).

Official documents from the Ministry of IT reveal that a budget allocation of Rs. 993.568 million has been designated for the Ministry itself. This funding will support operational expenses, employee salaries, and necessary administrative costs to ensure the ministry’s effective functioning throughout the year.

A significant portion of the budget is allocated to the Special Communications Organization (SCO), which will receive Rs. 6.989 billion. The SCO is vital for delivering communication services in remote regions, notably in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

Additionally, the National Information Technology Board (NITB), tasked with implementing e-governance initiatives across various government departments, is set to receive Rs. 1.453 billion. The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) has been allocated a total of Rs. 3 billion, which includes Rs. 2 billion specifically for incentivizing software exporters.

Furthermore, Rs. 500 million has been allocated to both the Pakistan Digital Authority and the National Digital Commission, two newly formed entities aimed at advancing the Digital Pakistan mission. These initiatives are part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance digital transformation and strengthen Pakistan’s digital infrastructure. The Electronic Certification Accreditation Council will also receive Rs. 340 million.
