Apple’s commitment to mixed reality technology is unwavering. Despite the initial high price point of the Vision Pro, the tech giant is reportedly working on a more affordable version that could be available as early as next year. This new headset is expected to be priced around $2,000, a significant reduction from the $3,500 Vision Pro. To achieve this lower price, Apple is considering using less expensive materials, a less powerful processor, and removing the EyeSight external eye display.
Looking further ahead, Apple is rumored to be developing a second-generation Vision Pro headset for release in 2026. Additionally, the company may introduce smart glasses similar to Meta’s Ray-Bans and camera-equipped AirPods in 2027.
Beyond mixed reality, Apple is also revitalizing its smart home efforts. After previous setbacks, the company is reportedly working on a budget-friendly, iPad-like display for home use. This device would allow users to watch TV, make FaceTime calls, and run apps. A more advanced tabletop device with a robotic arm, potentially priced around $1,000, is also in development.
In the near term, Apple is set to launch its next generation of MacBook Pros later this month. Powered by Apple’s M4 chips, these MacBooks will offer enhanced AI capabilities and more. They will be joined by new iMacs and Mac desktop computers with fresh color options.
