Pak Taekwondo Team Wins Asian Open Championship

In a brilliant display of skill and technique, the Pakistan taekwondo team claimed the championship title, securing an impressive haul of 3 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals on the final day of the 6th Asian Open (Khyurogi) Taekwondo Championship in Indonesia.

This marks a historic achievement, as it is the first time Pakistani male and female athletes have accomplished this milestone at an international taekwondo event.

Kazakhstan secured second place, while Malaysia came in third.

The Asian Taekwondo Union declared Pakistan the best team of the event. Additionally, Pakistan’s Shahzeb Khan was awarded the best athlete of the championship for scoring the most points, while Master Yousuf Karami received the best coach award.

In the final of the -58 kg weight category, Pakistan’s Haroon Khan won the gold medal by defeating his compatriot Abubakar Siddique with scores of 6-4 and 9-7.

In the women’s +73 kg category final, Pakistan’s Manisha Ali defeated Indonesia’s Parmata Sri with scores of 4-1 and 8-2 to win the gold medal for Pakistan.

On this occasion, Lt Col (r) Raja Wasim Ahmed, President of the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation, Omar Saeed, CEO, and Kooboong Kim, Patron-in-Chief of the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation, congratulated the national taekwondo team for their outstanding performance. They attributed the grand show to the athletes’ hard work, team spirit, and dedication.
