Babar Azam’s Bat to be Displayed at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Former national cricket team captain, Babar Azam, will have his bat displayed in the Long Room of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). This bat was notably used in the 2022 T20 World Cup final.

MCG officials requested Babar Azam to donate the bat, to which he agreed. This prestigious bat will now join the ranks of those belonging to legendary cricketers such as Don Bradman, David Boon, Jack Hobbs, and Brian Lara, all previously showcased in the Long Room.

Expressing his delight, Babar Azam stated, “It is an honor for me to have my bat placed in the Long Room. I have many memories associated with the MCG; it is one of the best grounds in the world, and having my bat alongside those of great batters is a special joy for me.”

Babar Azam also played in the final of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Melbourne, where he delivered an outstanding performance. Despite recent struggles with his batting form, he received an enthusiastic reception upon his arrival in Australia.

The former captain was among the first to join the touring party and was greeted by fans eager for photos and well-wishes. Members of the Pakistan ODI squad arrived in Melbourne earlier for their upcoming series against Australia, with the remaining players scheduled to depart today, according to a statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The team will face Australia from November 4 to 18, then head to Zimbabwe for matches from November 24 to December 5.

Recently, Pakistan secured a memorable 2-1 victory against England, marking their first home series win in nearly three and a half months. The victory prompted jubilant reactions from key players, including Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Shadab Khan, who took to social media to celebrate the team’s remarkable achievement.
