Samsung is gearing up to launch its highly anticipated Galaxy S25 series early next year, promising notable enhancements in both design and performance. The new models are expected to sport slightly larger displays and rounded borders on the back, coupled with substantial internal upgrades.
According to rumors, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip, offering a significant performance boost. In contrast, reports indicate that the base model of the Galaxy S25 will feature MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 chip instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. This shift suggests Samsung’s strategy to diversify its chip suppliers and reduce costs.

The Dimensity 9400 chip is reported to be 20 percent cheaper than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, costing $155 per unit compared to Snapdragon’s $200. Samsung’s decision to utilize the Dimensity chip in the base model could be a cost-effective move, as the demand for the smaller model may not match that of the Plus or Ultra variants.
Both the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chips are being manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm fabrication process, ensuring comparable performance levels. This development may surprise fans who expected the entire Galaxy S25 lineup to exclusively feature Snapdragon chips, as earlier rumors had suggested.
