Shahzeb wins gold in Asian Taekwondo

Pakistan’s Shahzeb Khan clinched the gold medal by defeating Calamba of the Philippines in the -54 kg weight category at the Asian Open Khyurogi Taekwondo Championship.

In the first round, Calamba scored 11 points against Shahzeb’s 6.

However, Shahzeb staged a remarkable comeback in the second round, winning 10-3, and then dominated the third round with an 18-0 score, securing Pakistan’s first gold medal in the event.

Earlier, Shahzeb Khan qualified for the final by defeating Hidayat Tomakaka of Indonesia with scores of 12-14, 16-14, and 22-0 in the semi-final.

In the +87 kg weight category final, Kablan of Kazakhstan secured the gold medal by defeating Pakistan’s Hamza Saeed with scores of 5-1 and 4-4.

Meanwhile, the President of the Pakistan Olympic Association Syed Abid Qadri, Secretary General Khalid Mahmood, Chairperson of Special Olympics Pakistan Ronak Lakhani, President of the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation Col. Waseem Janjua, and CEO Omar Saeed have congratulated Shahzeb Khan on his gold medal and Hamza Saeed on his silver medal for Pakistan.
