Pakistan Railways Resumes Train Services in Balochistan

Pakistan Railways has officially announced the reinstatement of train operations in Balochistan, following weeks of suspension due to the terrorist attack on the Jaffer Express.

The decision includes the revival of several train routes, with services set to recommence from 27 March 2025.

As per the revised schedule, Train 40-DN Jaffer Express will begin its journey from Peshawar to Quetta on 27 March. On the same day, Train 39-UP Jaffer Express will resume operations from Sibi to Peshawar. Additionally, Train 39-UP Express will restart service from Quetta to Peshawar on 28 March, while Train 3-UP from Karachi to Quetta will become operational again on 31 March.

To cater to the increased demand during Eidul Fitr, a special Eid train is scheduled to depart from Quetta to Peshawar on 29 March 2025, ensuring a smoother travel experience for passengers during the festive season.

Passengers have been urged to strictly follow the revised departure timings, while railway staff have been instructed to complete all necessary logistical arrangements ahead of the service resumption.

The Railway Prem Union has welcomed the decision, with Central President Sheikh Muhammad Anwar calling it a significant relief for travelers in Balochistan.

He lauded Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi for his dedication to railway development, particularly the move to operate the Bolan Express on a daily basis, fulfilling a longstanding demand of the railway workers’ union.

Anwar also praised the introduction of additional train routes from Quetta, considering it an essential step towards enhancing transportation facilities and addressing regional travel inequalities.
